Barlow's Shaving Cream Crafted For Men

Company: 180 Innovational LLC.
Product:  Barlow's Charcoal Shave Cream
Website: Exclusive at Rite-Aid

This week I took to the local Rite-aid for another look on the shelves and came up with 4 different products that I will be reviewing. First up is Barlow's Charcoal Shave Cream. Charcoal is becoming the new additive these days in lots of products I’ve seen it many times in shaving soap before but not shaving cream. Come to think of it I’ve never even heard of Barlows until now. So I did a little investigative work online and found something very interesting this is a Private label company owned by 180 Innovational LLC. This brand has no website and only sold through places like CVS, Target, Rite-aid you get the picture. They also own other brands ranging from Medical to HairCare products. Here is a link if you're interested - https://trademarks.justia.com/owners/180-innovations-llc-3504706/ So you can see that the experience of an artisan product is pretty much gone so don’t let its advertising fool you.

The brand packaging is typical for the modern day shaver between the ages of 18 - 30 easy to use easy to apply kind of thing. I did like the flip top to the shaving cream it was easy to open and close and store away for the next use.

Now, I know about shaving cream I’ve been using them for some time now and when Barlow said this was shaving cream I was pretty pumped to try something new but let me first give you the definition of shaving cream - Shaving cream or shaving foam is a frothy cosmetic cream applied to body hair, usually facial hair, to facilitate shaving. This is where my disappointment in this product would begin. I was quick to find out that this was merely a gel that had charcoal infused in it. Here we go again another misdirection which of course the reason is not too many people will reach for a shaving gel In my experience, they have never performed well nor do they truly appeal to the wet shaver.

To say I had a completely negative experience would be an overstatement. The shave was a good one but I did have to do two passes which I normally don’t do (I blamed the razor blade this time) lying to the consumer about it being a shaving cream is again another notch is the disappointment belt but I was still able to achieve a good shave. Would I reach for this again? personally no but for $7.00 you can give this one a try to make up your own mind on which way to go.
