About two weeks ago I was contacted from Pereira Shavery to see if I would do a review on some of there new products. I had just finished a very difficult review and was in no mood to do anything new but I needed something to fill this void so I agreed and let me tell you I’m glad I did.
A Little background and history of what makes this company’s shaving products different. Pereira Shavery went back in time to find the recipe created by ancestor Dr. Pereira. Credited with formulating many of the modern-day recipes for shaving soaps, he was considered a pioneer in the industry and was quoted in several popular books and magazines of the time, including The Chemist and Druggist, a monthly trade circular, and The Harper’s Universal Recipe Book of 1869.
They took that age-old recipe and modernized it without losing the science behind it and its original essence. There research and experimentation have led them to this moment, the release of the first product. Incorporated with activated charcoal, this shaving soaps have detoxifying, cleansing, exfoliating, and clarifying properties that leave your skin feeling soft and supple, without the dryness of regular shaving soaps. Activated charcoal also minimizes acne by exfoliating and drawing out dirt and oil which can clog pores and cause breakouts and for me, this is a good thing.
Currently, Pereira offers a shaving soap and a shaving cream the strange thing is for the life of me the only difference between the two that I can see is how they are packaged. One comes in a plastic tub (Cinnamon & Orange) the other a Ceramic bowl (Water Blossom) this one is my favorite. Both have the same listed ingredients so why is one called a cream and the other a soap your guess is as good as mine. I think this kind of marketing is confusing for the consumer.
The brush was a surprise to me. We all have seen bore brushes before you know the ones that come in starter kits but this one felt good in the hand it also including great backbone and spread the shaving soap evenly over the face. Although it was a little small for my taste it performed very well.
The Pereira Shavery Shavette which I really wanted to try but when I placed a razor blade inside it seemed to shift up and down so much I thought I was doing something wrong. Did I think maybe this was not the write blade maybe it was only for a single? Since I don’t use them too often I’m going to ask them if this is the correct blade, if I’m loading this correctly. I’ll do a new video just with this razor. The razor looks so cool I really and I want to try it out.
The last item I didn’t use because I don’t have a beard it’s a boomerang beard comb which I have never seen before. It’s beautifully created out of natural pear-wood and the reason for this wood is pear-wood also prevents any static electricity buildup, which can cause your beard to tangle. It comes in a very presentable CD case with a set of easy to follow pictorial instructions that explain how to use the comb’s unique shape to groom your beard, neckline and cheek lines.
So, the shave was fantastic The soap has active charcoal which helps exfoliate the skin. The soaps chemistry is identical so no matter which one you choose you're going to benefit I happened to really like the one in the ceramic bowl the scent of this is Water Blossom a refined floral and musky note is amazing. They both perform very well whether you face or Bowl lathering you’ll get plenty of it. The only thing that might take you back is the lather will be grey which is from the charcoal other than that they both have great slickness and glide perfect for a DE or Straight razor and the post shave feel is a good
one as well.
So, I have a great time using these products and would recommend the Water Blossom in the ceramic mug because the scent is just fantastic. The Cinnamon and Orange come in second for me. If you want to try something different and I’m not just talking about the next crazy scent out there, then step into Pereira Shavery.
