Last week while searching for something to watch I noticed a new channel on FIOS called INSP. I think it deals with westerns mostly but on the day I landed on it The Quiet Man was about to start. This is one of my favorite movies and when it's on I always get sucked in and watch it again. This version must have been enhanced digitally the colors were very vivid and bright. You can see they took time to make this picture look its best.
Well, I had no choice but to use The Quiet Man for the shave this week. It's based on Creed's Green Irish Tweed it was created for Cary Grant and later worn by Robert Redford, Prince Charles, and Clint Eastwood. This is an elegant, rich, sporty scent with notes of sandalwood, Florentine iris, herbaceous clover, French verbena, violet leaves, and ambergris. As the saying goes It's simply what a well-dressed man ought to smell like. Oh, and I used the tallow version.
Today we are using Spices From The Sea our take on Old Spice. I think this is very close to the original and according to some reviews, you think so too. what a history this product has it started in 1938 and was manufactured by the Shulton Company which was founded in 1934 by William Lightfoot Schultz.
Then in 1990 Procter & Gamble purchased Old Spice from the Shulton Company and this is when the changes started in 1992 the clipper ship was replaced by a sailboat/yacht on the bottles. Now, P&G; has introduced many forms of deodorant sticks, body washes, and body sprays in several scents under the Old Spice brand. Old Spice is now the No.1 antiperspirant/deodorant stick and body wash brand in the United States.
Today we have a Shaving & Talking video #16. We are featuring the Wet The Face Lodge 49. AMC had a show of the same name which I wish was back on the air. I had a wonderful time following the plot and guessing what was going to happen next. Unfortunately, a decision was made to terminate the series only after two seasons and the worst part it was left on a cliffhanger that will never be answered. For a while, after this news, they had a strong petition to get it back on the air but that slowly died.
With the reality that Lodge 49 was over, I decided to create a homage to the show to keep it somewhat alive and that's how the shaving soap and aftershave were born. The label includes the lodge crest with the saying The Ancient & Benevolent Order of the Lynx. I think if the lodge had a gift shop this would be one of the items being sold from it. Its scent is based on Tom Fords White Suede with notes of Saffron, Thyme, Suede, Olibanum, and Musk it is truly unforgettable.
Last week as I was walking through Riteaid I saw something new on the shelf a shaving butter from Shea Moisture for Men. This brand is under the Sundial umbrella of products which is a subsidiary of Unilever made right here on long island. I have used one other product from them a soap bar that is absolutely fantastic. They can be found in our local Stop N Shop. SheaMoisture is the legacy of founder and CEO Richelieu Dennis’ grandmother Sofi, who sold handcrafted shea butter soaps and salves in Sierra Leone to support her family after she was widowed at a young age. Sofi became known as a healer throughout the countryside and taught her recipes to Richelieu who is now the Founder of Sundial Brands which includes Shea Moisture, Founder & Chair Of Essence Ventures; Founder Chair of Social Mission Board. One can say this is one busy guy.
