Today I’m giving the Duke another visit no not John Wayne I’m talking about Duke Cannon line of products. If anyone remembers my last encounter with there Hot Shaving Gel they know it didn’t go very well, in fact, it was tossed into the trash at the end of my YouTube Video review.  I’m hoping for a better experience with Duke Cannon Superior Grade Shaving Cream I was told by many to give this one a try.

The packaging is typical of modern day shaving creams plastic tube with a flip-up easy open top. Also, the branding of Duke Cannon is all over the packaging the kind of stuff like he grows a full beard in 3 hours, etc.. its all over the outside of the package. 

The scent of this cream is something I’m not fond of its a heavy aloe smell but if you like aloe then this one is perfect. I would rather have them incorporate the scents from the Big Ass Bars of Soap line this is what put them on the map in the first place so why not continue using them in all other products? I guess it’s another marketing genius at work. 

As for the lather I prefer to use a bowl and it didn’t say anything about not using a brush but my feeling is you can do a better job by just massaging it into your beard using your fingertips. The crazy thing is I did notice a slight disappearing act going on with the lather but not too drastic it hardly made a difference in its performance which was pretty impressive. My razor was able to go over trouble spots with ease and I had no signs of irritation. Due to its slickness and glide properties, I was able to get real close and the posts shave feel was a good one.

So if your looking for something new to try then give this a whirl but don’t expect to have your mind blown this shaving cream brings nothing new to the table. Don’t get me wrong it's pretty good, in fact, I had a great shave but with a playing field as we have now you have to step up to the plate with something a little more exciting than this has aloe. You can only rely on the Duke character to carry you so far and then it comes to the performance of the product especially in this field of cheaper alternatives.
