Product: Steam Shaving Soap Tablet
We reach back into the gift box Benjamin Moran gives us and we see something from Bathhouse Soapery & Caldarium called Steam a shaving soap tablet. I’m used to seeing pucks but never a tablet before. I love the odd shave and the light blue color I knew as soon as I saw it I found the new soap to review for this week.
The packaging was simply a clear plastic wrapping with a black label with white writing on the top and bottom of the tablet. The reason for the clear wrapping was easy to understand why would anyone want to hide this beautiful color blue.
The scent of steam is intoxicating I get ocean notes but not sure if I can pinpoint anything else. The ingredients: sorbitol, propylene glycol, sodium Laureth sulfate, stearic acid, lauric acid, water, sodium hydroxide, coconut oil, argan oil, shea butter, silk amino acids, honeyquat, bamboo extract, sunflower extract, aloe leaf extract, carrageenan extract, marshmallow root extract. I have a question, are all these ingredients natural?
The performance is where this soap shines. Let's start with lathering, I had no issues with doing a bowl lather and created an amazing amount in only a few minutes. As I applied the lather I noticed a scent increase which for most wet shavers is a good thing. I was able to apply a thick creamy lather with fantastic coverage getting into my beard allowing me to completely cover my face. The slickness and glide were more than ample allowing me to go over trouble spots without the fear of irritation. The post-shave feel was a good one as well.
I enjoyed the shave with the steam shaving tablet I found it to be very refreshing and invigorating. Don’t let this one pass you by because at $8.00 for a 4.5oz tablet you’ll be getting so many savings from it. The one thing that’s missing and would have been amazing to finish the shave with would have been an aftershave but this is a soap company and aftershaves are just not in their purview.
