Colgate Shave & Peaky Blinders

Recently I found a Colgate puck and I remembered using it around 4 years ago so I thought it would be a good idea to give this one more try. For this shave, I'm going to need my barber mug which I only take out on occasions like this. The one I have is very common in the wet shaving community but I just dig the way they look.

This is a solid hard puck with something that I just can't make out that is stamped on its face. The box it came in seems worn and I notice after not finding a date of production I see a 1-800 number for answers to questions you might have. Now 1-800 numbers started in 1967 so my guess is that this puck is at least 55 years old or less. That being said, I'm happy to have one in my collection to try again.

I need to bloom this puck being that it's old so I dropped it into the Barbershop mug and let it sit under hot water for about 5 min or so. I dumped all the bloom water out and wet my brush just a little and proceeded to make a lather. It was almost instant that the lather started to appear but the odd thing was it had absolutely no scent to it none at all. I'm not sure if it lost the scent after so many years but I couldn't even detect the slightest hint of one.

When face lathering I noticed a slight disappearance in the lather but managed to get it under control for a while. So I was able to have decent coverage but not the best slickness and glide they came in less than par. It did allow me to go over trouble spots but I was concerned about cutting myself. Just when I was halfway through I started to notice the lather was disappearing once again.

I finished with an aftershave Platinum from Fine Accouterments which saved the shave. It was clear to me that after this second go-round I would never reach for this puck again so it headed to where all the failed shaves go, into the trash. May it find peace.

As for the Netflix pick this week I found myself watching and completing the new 6 seasons of Peaky Blinders. 5 years ago a friend of mine raved about this new show on BBC so I just had to see what the fuss was about and she was so right what an amazing story and the acting was so good. I thought the 6 season was the last one and it is but only for tv. They are going to produce a move for the last and final chapter which I'm itching to see already. If you've never seen it please give it a try but start from the first season.

P.S.
We have a new line of shaving soap and aftershaves inspired by the show Peaky Blinders Coming Soon!

As always be kind to one another
