Rediscovering Kiss My Face Shaving Cream After All These Years
Every once in a while, I like to reach back into my wet-shaving past and revisit a product I haven’t used in years. This time, that product was Kiss My Face Shaving Cream.
It had been a long time since I had shaved with it, and whenever you return to something after that many years, there’s always a question in the back of your mind: Was it really as good as I remember?
Well, after shaving with Kiss My Face again, I can say that it didn’t disappoint.
Getting Reacquainted
Wet shaving has changed quite a bit over the years. We have an incredible selection of artisan shaving soaps, new razors, synthetic brushes, traditional brushes, pre-shaves, aftershaves, balms, and just about everything else imaginable.
With all those choices, it’s easy for some of the products we used years ago to get pushed aside.
That’s part of what made this shave so enjoyable. Rather than trying something completely new, I was getting reacquainted with something familiar.
And almost immediately, I remembered why I enjoyed using it.
The Lather
For me, a good shaving cream needs to do more than simply look good in the bowl or on the face. The lather has a job to do.
Kiss My Face produced a creamy, comfortable lather that gave the razor a nice surface to work across. The slickness was there, and I felt that I had good protection throughout the shave.
That combination of slickness, cushion, and comfort is what I'm looking for from any shaving product.
It also reminded me that you don't necessarily need to make shaving complicated. Give me a good cream, a good brush, a razor I enjoy using, and I'm pretty happy.
Sometimes the Old Stuff Is Still Good
One of the interesting things about being involved in traditional wet shaving for so long is watching products come and go. We're constantly looking at what's new, and I certainly enjoy trying new shaving soaps and creams.
But new doesn't automatically mean better.
Going back to Kiss My Face after all these years was a good reminder of that.
I wasn't expecting some revolutionary shaving experience. I simply wanted to see whether an old product could still deliver the kind of shave I remembered.
It did.
The shave was comfortable, the razor moved nicely across the skin, and when I finished, I was very happy with the results.
An Old Friend Returns
There is something enjoyable about rediscovering a shaving product you haven't touched in years. It's almost like running into an old friend and discovering that you can pick up right where you left off.
That's probably the best way I can describe my return to Kiss My Face Shaving Cream.
It's been years.
My shaving routine has evolved.
I've used countless soaps and creams since then.
But when I finally came back to Kiss My Face, it reminded me why I liked it in the first place.
And most importantly, it didn't disappoint.
