Going back to last September Scott from Captain's Choice wanted me to review an aftershave called Land Ho!. It has a marvelous scent and worked well but what was missing was the shaving soap. Just a few weeks ago I received this package that not only contained the missing shaving soap but it also had shaving cream and aftershave balm a complete set. Naturally, it included a letter from Scott explaining this fact and if I could continue my review with the now missing pieces. So, I will be using the shaving soap and aftershave balm in this review and save the shaving cream for a later video.

The packaging is what you would expect from the captain they are pretty much the same style used throughout the product line. nothing wrong here. The balm does have a nice pump which I like as well. 

Since I reviewed the scent on the aftershave I’ll repeat what I said things have not changed since then. I connected with the scent right away. Like I've said in the past the Captain doesn't' actually like to spell out the notes list to the scents he likes to get the feedback from the users and let them make the list but I'm getting confusing messages from the website. The shaving soap says citrus upon a background of lavender while the description for the aftershave says a classic Fougere scent with customer feedback suggesting citrus clean, fresh, tropical edge with tobacco leaf to grapefruit. I personally agree with the tobacco leaf profile.

The shaving soap was a pleasure to bowl lather no problem it made a wonderful lather got right into the beard and provided plenty of slickness and glide allowed me to go over trouble spots with no fear of irritation. My post-shave feel was very good as well. 

The aftershave balm worked very well in protecting and felt very good on my face not greasy at all a great ending to a great shave. 

So, if you have the chance to try Land Ho you won’t be disappointed. I can’t wait to try the shaving cream I know it's going to be a good shave with that as well.
