Shaving With Brutis

If you ever wanted to shave with the scent of Brut, then Burtis is the shaving soap for you. I tried to make this as close to the original scent as possible, and I think I succeeded. Along with its great scent, this soap has lots of lather, and the post-shave feel is fantastic.

The one thing that is missing is the big bar soap, I think it was called soap on a rope. I'm going to try to make this. I'm not sure I will make it on a rope, but the bar will be big.

Two Netflix shows I watched were The Residence and Toxic Town. 

Shaving With Nothing But The Base

Today I felt like using nothing, nothing but the base. I had this bottle of aftershave, Spices From the Sea, which smells like Old Spice. I didn’t have any of its shaving soap left, so if I use a soap with no fragrance, the only thing that you will notice is the aftershave.

This strategy seemed to work out perfectly once I was done with the shave I quickly applied the aftershave and presto Old Spice. I have to say it's a good match to the original. Sadly as I explained in the video I'm having an awful time getting everything I need to make this scent I may not be able to reproduce it again for a while both the aftershave and shaving soap are now out of stock.

I want to talk about a Netflix limited series I watched last week called Adolescence ​"Adolescence" is a British crime drama miniseries that premiered on Netflix on March 13, 2025. The four-episode series centers on 13-year-old Jamie Miller, who is arrested for the murder of his classmate, Katie Leonard. Shaving With Cool Cologne Shaving Cream

Looking for something I hadn't used in a while, I found Cool Cologne. The first time I used this was in 2017, and the last time was in 2021. This is a shaving cream from the UK, I believe, and when I used it for the first time, I was impressed by the amount of menthol in the product.

Since I've had this one tube of shaving cream for over 8 years, the formula will start to break down. The one thing you could notice is the lack of creamy texture to the paste. It was unfortunately very dry and needed a boost of water. This led me to try a bowl lather, but that just didn't work out as planned. So I placed a large amount in the brush I was using, kept it wet as I could, and started a face lather. This turned out to be what was needed and I got the shaving cream to come back to life I even noticed the menthol was present. As it turns out I had a great shaving and would use this again but I don't think I'll be waiting eight years to try it again.
