Shaving & Skechers

Today we are using a soap from the Dirty Girls series called Test Pilot Mary. This was the first in the series, and it holds a special spot in my heart because the pilot's name is also my wife's. This soap shares something else as well: it comes very close to the popular Dior Men's Sauvage. You can see Johnny Depp in the ad campaign for the cologne.

No movies to report about this week, so I'll be telling you about how I had to buy new sneakers due to how worn out my old ones had gotten. My sneakers only last about two years before the soles start peeling off. I was told that instead of only buying one pair and wearing them until they were worn out, I should buy two pairs and alternate them. That sounds good, but I'm not the kind of person who would do that until now.

My last pair of sneakers came from Skechers, and I have to say they carry the 10.5 Extra Wide size I need. Also, trying them on is a must, so I can't buy them from any online store. The problem I have with the Skechers brand is with the quality; something always goes wrong with the shoe. This time, on my last pair, the lace loops where you thread the laces in and out wore out and broke on the right foot, making the shoe hard to tighten. This happened about four months into wearing them. Needless to say, I just kept wearing them because it's always something with these sneakers.

When I arrived at the store this time, knowing exactly where I needed to go, I scanned the aisles and found my first pair. They looked similar but had reinforced lace holes, which in this style were made of leather—a vast improvement over what they offered before. I thought I was done until I saw the sign that read "Buy one pair, get the second one 50% off." I remembered what my friend had told me, so I went looking for my next pair and found something a little out of my wheelhouse. But what the heck, it was 50% off, so both pairs of sneakers cost me a little over $100.

What I thought was going to be a pain turned out to be a good day for me and my wallet.

That's all I have for now. As always, be kind to one another.
