A week or so ago, I received an email asking if I wanted to review the Zomchi Safety Razor. I checked out the website and thought it would be a good fit for the channel, so I agreed. The company asked for an honest review, and that’s exactly what I’ve done.
The package arrived in a simple mailer, and the box for the razor was attractive. The back of the box included instructions and a little information about the company. Although it came with blades branded with the Zomchi logo, I decided to use Personna Blades I had from a previous review of a disposable Gillette razor years ago.
The razor has a stunning electric blue finish, and the anodization was done perfectly—there were no issues with the finish at all. The razor comes in three parts: the handle, which has a great grip; the base; and the cap. Loading a blade was easy, and once the cap was on, it was clear how much of the blade was exposed. I immediately knew this could be an aggressive razor, and I was right.
After a few strokes, I could tell just how aggressive this razor was. I made sure to point out to anyone watching that this razor is not for beginners—definitely not. It’s something a medium to expert-level wet shaver would appreciate. In fact, during my shave, I even nicked myself with the Zomchi, and I’ve been shaving for over 40 years.
In conclusion, it’s a wonderful razor with an amazing finish, weight, and handling. If you're into aggressive razors, this one is definitely for you.
