Sometimes a hobby is so much fun you just have to tell someone and that's what I hope to do here with my experience using Black Ship Grooming Captain Joe a coffee scented shaving soap. Now I've had a few of them before but not one of them came with a coffee bean right in the soap. You have to love the sense of humor of artisan Kelly Hogan.

The soap comes in a white tub with a black screw on lid. The label is where the fun starts I like the cartoon styles of Black Ship's labels like Captain Joe's and I'm always waiting to see what they will come up with next.

If you're new to wet shaving and you’ve never heard of Proraso Red just go online and order yourself a tube you’ll thank me later. The reason I tell you this is Proraso no matter what color you purchase is basically flawless when it comes to performance and scent. Why not start out with one of the best shaving creams around so you can judge the rest of them with.

Proraso has wonderful products but not everything from them I like, for example, the aftershave balm I just didn’t like the feeling of it and this, of course, is a personal thing. They have a product line which is pretty simple to understand. We have Red (Sandalwood), White (Lime & Apple), Green (Evergreen), and Blue (Amber Musk). Each line includes Pre Shaving Cream, Shaving Soap Jar, Shaving Cream Tube, Shaving Foam Can, Aftershave Lotion, and Aftershave Balm. For this review, I’ll just concentrate on the shaving cream tube.

I’ve been looking closely at glycerin soaps lately and when you look at what’s available you must include Mama Bear they come very close to the top in popularity. This well-known company has been around for some time making handmade 100% natural shaving soaps which are available in over 100 different fragrances from Bath bar soaps to shaving soaps they have it all.

I'm back again testing another Palmolive for Men product. This time we look at Sensitive with Aloe Vera. As the name implies the shaving cream was designed with men who have sensitive skin while shaving. For me, Palmolive has never let me down. Always at the ready with consistent performance and that goes for this one as well but what makes this product good for sensitive skin?

Review - Arko Shave Stick

Today we take another look at shaving sticks. The one that comes to mind we have seen in just about every shave of the day posting at a few dozen times a year and that would be the Arko shaving stick.  The packaging is unmistakably ARKO in its iconic red wrapping. I received mine from a friend overseas along with some other fantastic products to try. I kept picking it up but then pushing it to the side because I didn't really enjoy the scent. I've avoided this product for as long as I possibly could and now is the time for seeing what this little stick is made of.

Since 1957 the Arko shaving stick hasn't changed much and some say this is a good thing because they like the nostalgic look and feel of the product. You have to peel away it's wrapping in order to use this product which then leaves it exposed to the elements and there is no way of really closing it back up. I'm ok with it but I see so much room for improvement on that and having a redesign for the packaging could increase awareness which leads to more sales.

Recently I took another giant step into wet shaving when I decided to learn how to create my own products. The process for me is getting easier now that I’ve created a few of them. This leads me to this week’s article about my new shaving soap called Nirvana.

The soap comes in our standard 4oz tub. The label background was created by a Mandelbrot application and fit so nicely to what I wanted to express.
