Crowne & Crane - Deep Ellum

Company: Crowne & Crane
Product: Deep Ellum

For this review, we select the last sample from Crowne & Crane this one is called Deep Ellum. Now, I had no idea what was meant by Deep Ellum so I looked for an understanding the origins of and found it here at https://parksfordowntowndallas.org/the-history-of-deep-ellum/

Here's just a little sample of the article:
The history of Deep Ellum can be traced back to the late 19th century when it was settled by former slaves as a freedman’s town after the Civil War. Though the area was originally called Deep Elm in reference to Elm Street, it was pronounced “Ellum” by residents, and the name eventually stuck.

Deep Ellum was one of the city’s first commercial districts to welcome African Americans and European immigrants, and it soon became a center for industry. In 1888, Robert S. Munger, famed inventor of the system cotton gin, built his first factory along Elm Street and Trunk Avenue, expanding to other buildings until the 1910s. In 1914, another industrial giant came to the streets of Deep Ellum: Henry Ford. Ford chose the neighborhood for one of his earliest automobile plants, which would produce the famed Ford Model T.

But it wouldn’t be these titans of industry that ultimately defined Deep Ellum. It would be the music pouring into the streets. There’s a ton of interesting information in the article so take the time and give it a look.

As samples go there is more than enough for a few shaves here but after it's unwrapped most likely you’ll have to find a place to store it since in my case putting the wrapping back on was not an option. This goes with samples in general when they are wrapped in the coffee filter like packaging I do it with my pucks but am thinking of switching them to tubs in the near future.

The scent of Deep Ellum is wonderful the website describes it as a smokey orange citrus high note, mingled with subdued middle notes of violet and geranium, and finished by bass notes of patchouli, musk, and hardwoods. This soap has soul.

The puck was not terribly hard so pitching some off and placing it into a bowl was painless. The lather this created was amazing it got right into the beard allowing for great coverage. During my shave, it provided great slickness, and glide allowed me to go over treble septs without fear of irritation. My post shave feel was a good one the only thing I was missing was the aftershave in the same scent.

If you interested in getting Deep Ellum for yourself may I suggest doing so now. As of this writing, this is what’s in stock - Jars are 5oz (2 Left) then you have 3oz Pucks (3 left) and 1oz Samples (4 left) if your not sure may I recommend the samples you can get many shaves from just the 1oz sample.
